Vijay Deverakonda went all out in promoting his last film Liger, which bombed at the box office. The actor seemed confident about Puri Jagannadh’s directorial venture and took it across India along with his co-star Ananya Panday. Now, for Kushi, Deverakonda is back to promotions. However, this time around the Telugu star is more composed as he patiently answered the questions at the trailer launch of the film. Deverakonda also hinted that he might soon tie the knot.
When asked about the idea of marriage, the actor said, “I have become more comfortable with it. Back then, it used to be a word that should not be used in my presence. It used to irritate me. Now, I am having conversations about it. I am enjoying my friends being married. I am enjoying the happy marriages and the troubled marriages. I think it is a phase everyone should go through.”
When Deverakonda was asked if he has found a partner, the actor said, “I have been finding partners. I was just not ready for marriage. Maybe, in a couple of years. Will do… will do.”
Talking about coming back to the genre of romantic drama with Kushi, Vijay Deverakonda said, “When I had lost faith in love and was pissed off with that emotion, I declared that I won’t do love stories…But now my faith is restored and my back is broken (by doing action movies) so I am back to this fantastic love story.”
In the trailer of Kushi, Vijay says a dialogue, “In the market, they have different opinions about me but in real life, I am a feminist.” Talking about the same, a journalist asked Deverakonda if he is a feminist in real life as well, and he said, “I think I have become a feminist. How do I come across? I believe everyone should have the freedom to do whatever they want to and be happy. At a human level, that’s what I think. I don’t know about being a sexist or feminist… this is what I feel like. We all have one life and we should be happy.”
The young hero seems to have more regard for box office collection than film criticism as he said that he would pick a commercially successful film over a critically-acclaimed film if the latter is not successful. “I would pick a hit film trashed by critics any day over a critically acclaimed film that flops at the box office because I know what a hit film does to the ecosystem of filmmaking and theatres.”
