‘I both appreciate and have reservations about the same aspect of Rajamouli’s character’

Screenwriter Vijayendra Prasad, who has penned blockbuster films Baahubali, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and RRR, in a recent interview with a YouTube channel, opened up about working with his son SS Rajamouli. When the veteran filmmaker-writer was asked about traits that he likes and dislikes in the director, Vijayendra Prasad said that there’s one aspect of his son that he likes and dislikes at the same time.

“I appreciate and have reservations about the same aspect of Rajamouli’s character. His focus is evident–once he’s engrossed in a particular film, he dedicates his thoughts solely to that endeavour, often neglecting thoughts of any subsequent projects. When I inquire about his upcoming work, especially when he’s deeply immersed in the current production, he remains tight-lipped. He tends to share insights only a month after completing a project and preparing it for release. The intensity of his concentration is something I deeply admire. Yet, I find myself disapproving of his reticence concerning future endeavours. I suppose if he were to provide even a glimpse of his next venture, it would allow ample time for us to be prepared, perhaps even with a script in hand. Nonetheless, I must acknowledge and commend his unwavering dedication to his ongoing projects,” Vijayendra Prasad said.

When asked about their upcoming collaboration, SSMB29, which stars Mahesh Babu in the lead role, the writer chose to remain tight-lipped. However, when probed about the rumour that a Hollywood star has been roped in for the film, he said, “It hasn’t been confirmed. But there’s a possibility (of roping in a Hollywood star),” he said. He also added that the film will be like an African forest adventure.
