Dulquer Salmaan is known for his versatility as an actor, but he is also loved and admired by his fans for being a devoted family man. In a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, the actor opened up about his inclination to seek celestial signs and how one such sign prompted him to approach his now-wife, Amaal Sufiya.
Dulquer and Amaal studied together in the same school, but the two never spoke because of their age difference. He said, “I have my faith. I believe in god. I am moderately religious but I do look for signs. I have something to do with the number three. My wife and I went to the same school but she was way my junior. I was in 12th standard and she was in 7th, she was a little kid with a ponytail. So, it’s really wrong to look at her like that. Years later, I found my first film and her in the same year. I saw her out randomly three times and I was like, ‘Why does she keep popping up? I never see this girl out and now in a span of a week, I have seen this girl three times.’ So I took a leap of faith.”

Describing how he approached Amaal, he recounted, “I texted her on Facebook and I wrote, ‘Hey, I know they are looking to get you married, they are looking to get me married. Do you want to meet for a cup of coffee and see if there’s something there, and if there isn’t we will be just two schoolmates who met? And she agreed to meet me.”
Dulquer and Amaal tied the knot within just six months of dating. The couple tied the knot on December 22, 2011. They became parents to daughter Maryam Ameerah Salmaan on May 5, 2015. On the professional front, the actor is now gearing up for the release of the big-budget action thriller King of Kotha. The film will hit the theatres on August 24.
Dulquer is also seen in director duo Raj and DK’s recently released web series Guns and Gulaabs. The show also stars Rajkummar Rao, Adarsh Gourav and Gulshan Devaiah in lead roles.
